Building the Future of Southern Alberta Hockey

CLUB HISTORY

Lethbridge United isn’t just about hockey — it’s about creating opportunities, building leaders, and shaping the future of the game in Southern Alberta. Under the direction of GM & Head Coach Mikel Weist, our program is committed to raising the standard of development, accountability, and community pride.

OUR HISTORY

Since 2022, Lethbridge United has offered a competitive environment for Southern Alberta’s top hockey prospects. Competing across Western Canada, our club quickly became recognized for its structured player development, a strong team culture, and a deep commitment to the community we represent.

Over the years, we’ve not only grown in trophies and titles, but also in the positive impact we make on our players’ lives.

Coaching Philosophy:

We balance high-tempo practices with purposeful instruction. Our coaches focus on everything from skating fundamentals (edges, puck protection, transition speed) to game strategy (special teams, situational awareness) and even the mental side of competition.

Video analysis sessions and one-on-one feedback help each player translate practice improvements to game-day performance. We coach not just for the next game, but for long-term growth.

Community Impact:

We’re proud to call Lethbridge home, and giving back is a core part of who we are. From school visits and learn-to-play clinics with local kids, to charity exhibition games that support local causes, our players learn to lead, serve, and inspire beyond the rink. Hockey is our platform – community is our purpose.

Every season, we organize food drive nights, volunteer at community events, and encourage our athletes to be positive role models. When we say “We Are The U,” it means we are one with our community.

2025–26 JPHL 18U AAA DIVISION

The 2025–26 JPHL season is underway, with the Lethbridge United 18U AAA Team competing against the top programs across Western Canada. Each matchup challenges our focus, unity, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Proudly competing in the Junior Prospects Hockey League — the elite 18U AAA circuit that defines the standard for performance, discipline, and development across the nation.
